TownHero is a free, mobile social network for people to discover and share events of interest on the go.
-Ever felt clueless to what’s actually going on in your area and didn’t know where to begin looking?
-Ever wonder where other locals go for fun events and community activities?
-Was there a big local sale going on that you would have loved to attend if only you knew it was happening?
-Were there times you wanted to go on a night out in town but always end up going to the same place you went last week because you don’t know of anything else going on?
-Did you witness a safety or environmental hazard that you feel others should know about?
-Are you planning on hosting an event to the public and want others to know about it?
As you go about your day, if you see anything of interest, you can drop a pin on that location and add a short description about the event. Pins are color coded by category. For example, if there is heavy road work and the intersection is blocked off, you can drop a red pin and alert others so they can plan for another route for travel. If there a public concert going on at the local park, you would drop a yellow pin and let others know so they can come enjoy the festivities.
Yellow pins are for leisure and recreational activities, blue pins for community/local-area events, red for safety or hazard areas, and green for local business sales and restaurant specials.
Now you can always stay engaged with your community as you and other local users can keep each other updated on what’s going in your area.
Users are able to see events from wherever they are, but can only post events in a 3 mile radius around them. So if you are traveling to another town or going on vacation, you’ll be able to check out what’s going on around your destination in advance.
Events can be of various different types such as store sales, restaurant promotions, fun local activities, important local news, and much more.
